JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe said that Hambantota is now known to have a port with no ships, a cricket ground with little or no cricket and an international airport with no airplanes.
He said that it will not be an issue if it was not the public money that was used to build these places.
“This must be punished. People are paying for this through taxes and wasting those taxes is a crime,” he said.
Amarasinghe also said that there is only one real opposition in the country and that is the JVP. He says the UNP is divided and is not united on its policy.
He says, in his opinion, the UNP will not be able to win the provincial council elections in September.
“People talk about the SLFP and UNP as two political parties but they are not two they are one. People who were in the UNP and now in the SLFP. So there is no talk for us with the UNP,” he said.
He also said that the current government is implementing the very policies the UNP wanted to bring so there is no need for a UNP government.
