Former Naval Media Spokesperson Commodore DKP Dassanayake arrested for the abduction of 11 youths has been remanded till the 20th of this month.
Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered to remand the former Navy officer and five other suspects till October 20th when they were produced before the Court today.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court that most of the documents and information provided by the Navy Headquarters for the investigation into the abduction and abduction of 11 youths in Colombo, were false and fake.
The Criminal Investigation Department further informed the court that the new Commander of the Navy was informed of the false information provided to the CID and the he had agreed to provide all the necessary information for the investigations.
The CID in July this year arrested the senior Navy officer in connection with the disappearance of 11 youths who had been abducted in Colombo and surrounding areas in 2008 and 2009.
Three other naval officers were also arrested in March this year in connection with the abduction of the youth including six international school students and five university students in 2008.
