The Court of Appeal yesterday (13) fixed hearing of the petition, filed by the Attorney General (AG), who has requested a re-trial of the case involving the murder of former Parliamentarian Nadaraja Raviraj, after three Navy officers were acquitted from the charges filed against them, to 2 August.
This order was given by a two-Judge Bench comprising Justices Deepali Wijesundera and Achala Vengappuli yesterday.
The AG had indicted former Navy Commander Prasad Hettiarachchi and two others in the High Court over the murder of the former MP.
The said case was heard before a Jury, which found the suspects not guilty.
However, the Attorney General has filed a petition at the Court of Appeal requesting a re-trial be ordered.
