Sri Lanka’s Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna says the party will rally against the Rally against unconstitutional, undemocratic, unethical & unconventional moves taken by the President, Maithripala Sirisena.
As the moves taken by President Maithripala Sirisena from appointing a new Prime Minister unconstitutionally and unethically on the 26th of last month and unconstitutionally dissolving Parliament yesterday are illegal and undemocratic, the JVP would take stern action against such action, Information Secretary of the JVP, MP Vijitha Herath said.
MP Herath said all moves taken by the President since 26th of last month, such as appointing a new prime minister, appointing a cabinet, proroguing Parliament and now dissolving Parliament, are unconstitutional, undemocratic, unethical and unconventional.
He added that the country would be informed soon of the action the JVP would take against such acts. He called upon all those who cherish democracy to rally with the moves the JVP would be taking.
