Citing the current government as being responsible for the country’s political crisis, the Minister of National Integration, Official Languages, Social Progress and Hindu Religious Affairs Mano Ganesan had blamed the President and Prime Minister for it.
The minister blamed the two leaders during a state function in Matale stating that the President is the official leader of the country and the Prime Minister is the head of the government and they should take responsibility for the current situation.
“No matter who comes to power, they are only concerned about their party and not the country,” he said, adding that, “one day they show as if they are in conflict then all opposition parties join and attend each other’s weddings and having secret talks.”
He condemned the Unity Government which was formed including his party the Democratic People’s Front.
The minister said that the ‘Pandits’ who had formulated the 100 day programme instead of taking over power to the UNP in 2015, should be responsible for this situation.
However, he said that plans are underway to form a coalition headed by the Prime Minister who tirelessly works for the party, adding that they had already taken a decision regarding the presidential candidate.
Ganesan noted that the presidential candidate is definitely a winning trump card.
