Samarasinghe says he withdrew from UNHRC delegation

Former Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe says he withdrew from the delegation proposed to head to Geneva as President Maithripala Sirisena’s special representatives to attend the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session.

Samarasinghe said that he just returned from Geneva after visiting the country on a fact finding missing before the official delegation is sent to Geneva.

He said that at a meeting with the President yesterday he informed the President his intention of not being part of the Government delegation being sent to Geneva.
