The SLFP Central Committee (CC) would meet next week to decide whether to support SLPP presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa, UPFA General Secretary, MP Mahinda Amaraweera said yesterday after a function at the SLFP Headquarters at Darley Road.
“We are having discussions and we hope they will be successful. Our decision will be based on whether Gotabhaya will agree to our economic policy. We will also have to consider the SLFP’s status in the alliance. Amaraweera said that the SLFP CC would also decide whether disciplinary action should be taken against those who attended the SLPP’s recent convention.
“A party has to have discipline. It’s better for MPs to stick to party decisions. Most of the SLFP parliamentarians came through the party national list slots. There is no need to panic because the talks with the SLPP are very likely to succeed.”
