While Sri Lanka and China support each other in matters of sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence, China has stated that it will never allow foreign intervention in the internal affairs of the two countries.
This was stated in a statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in support of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
External Affairs Minister Dinesh Gunawardena posted on his Twitter post that Sri Lanka will continue to support China’s sovereignty and engage in regular relations and trade with Sri Lanka and Hong Kong.
The following is posted on the official Twitter page of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka.
We welcome Sri Lanka’s position of always providing firm support for China’s policy.
While China and Sri Lanka are strategically close partners, the two countries continue to cooperate and support each other in matters of mutual sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.
It has been stated in the document that no foreign intervention in our internal affairs cannot be permitted.
