Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says steps will be taken to expand development to the North and East and across the island.
Speaking at a rally in Hambantota the Premier said clean drinking water will also be provided across the country.
The Prime Minister added the government has provided electricity to all parts of the island, claiming that highways and roads have been completed while others are under construction.
Premier Rajapaksa noted that when roads are laid in villages, the government will focus on providing clean drinking water.
He claimed that only 41% have access to clean drinking water, and stated that it is the government’s responsibility to increase the figure to 100%.
