Steps have been taken to remove ten senior polling officers who were assigned for election duties, Nuwara Eliya District Returning Officer Rohana Pushpakumara said.
He told the media that a group of teachers, who had applied for the post of senior polling officers, were removed as they were found to have engaged in the election campaign of a certain political party.
“We received complaints that they had attended election meetings of a certain political party. Evidence has been presented to substantiate that, he said and added that further investigations are being carried out on them.
“Although these officers have been removed, we have enough officers to replace them,” he said.
