The Chairman of the National Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya speaking to News 1st said the first result of the 2020 Parliamentary Election will most likely be released by Thursday (06) afternoon.
“Sometimes, the result of an electorate would be released before the results of the postal votes are made public,” said the NEC Chief.
If the votes are counted without any delay, the results would most likely be released before 02:30 PM, added Mahinda Deshapriya.
The Elections Chief believes the overall results would most likely be released by 06:30 PM on Thursday, adding if it happens, it would be a big win for the National Elections Commission.
However, he said the final overall results would completely be released by midnight on Thursday.
The Preferential Vote results will be released by midnight on Friday, said the Chairman of the National Elections Commission, adding those results will be released by the District Returning Officers.
