The National Elections Commission has instructed party secretaries to finalize and submit the selection of national list candidates for parliament within the next seven days.
The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), which won a landslide victory in the general election, received 17 National List seats.
The new opposition party, Samagi Jana Balawegaya received seven National List slots.
Jathika Jana Balawegaya led by JVP, TNA main constituent Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), Ahila Ilankai Tamil Congress, Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya and the United National Party won one National List seat each.
The SLPP handed over its list of National List MPs to the Elections Commission yesterday.
The Elections Commission said steps will be taken to issue a gazette notification soon with the list of members elected to Parliament in the 2020 General Elections.
The Commission said it was in the final stages of obtaining the names of elected members at the district level.
