The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the highest budget deficit in 35 years will be recorded this year.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today MP Eran Wickramaratne said the former good governance government reduced the budget deficit considerably.
The Parliamentarian noted the good governance government also increased the state income gradually, and maintained the growth rate at one level.
MP Wickramaratne noted however under the present administration the budget deficit increased by 41%, between January and June this year.
The MP added capital development expenses also decreased by 44%, while debt increased by Rs.1 trillion during this period.
MP Eran Wickramaratne said therefore this year will record the largest budget deficit in 35 years.
