As the Leader of the Tamil National Alliance, parliamentarian R. Sampanthan has suddenly fallen ill again, the party has taken steps to suspend several decisions, including the appointment of a media spokesperson, local media reported.
As the TNA leader had to rest for a few days on medical advice, the leadership of the party has been temporarily handed over to MP Mavai Senathirajah.
Several decisions taken at a special discussion held by the Tamil National Alliance in Colombo at the end of last month were due to be implemented this week. Among them were the appointment of a TNA spokesperson and a Parliament Whip for the TNA.
Another discussion was scheduled to be held in Colombo on the 22nd but it was decided to hold the discussion this week due to the sudden illness of MP Sampanthan.
