The Minister said that these groups are now trying to drag the country towards instability.
He said that the wrong impression has been given about Halal and what is needed is dialogue on the issue.
“Instead of having dialogue these groups are trying to create problems,” the Minister said.
He said that some groups have launched vehicle processions over the Halal issue at a time the country is preparing to host the Commonwealth summit.
The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) had recently launched the procession from Colombo to draw support against the Halal certification being issued in Sri Lanka.
Hakeem says the public must exercise caution over attempts to destabilize the country by creating divisions between communities.
The Minister is of the view that foreign elements are also trying to achieve the same goal in order to destabilize the government.
