BJP cadres protesting against attack on Tamil Nadu fishermen arrested in Chennai

As many as 70 Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) cadres were arrested in Chennai when they staged a road roko on the Anna Salai protesting against the attack on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy.

The Chintadripet police arrested the protesters for blocking the arterial road for about 10 minutes from 10.50am to 11am. The police said the BJP cadres had not obtained permission to stage the protest.

BJP members led by its fishermen wing secretary Satish Kumar gathered near the Anna statue on the Anna Salai and staged the protest. They raised slogans against the Sri Lankan government.

The BJP cadres, including three women, were taken to a Kalyana Mantapam and detained there.
