US express concern over human rights situation in SriLanka

Spokesman of the US Foreign Ministry express concern over taking action against human rights violations and implementing LLRC recommendations in the country.

US ambassador for global criminal justice Stephen Rapp commenced his visit to SriLanka on Tuesday and met Tamil National Alliance representatives yesterday.

Speaking to BBC Tamil Osai TNA parliamentarian Sumandhiran said that US envoy informed that US will present resolution against SriLanka in the upcoming UNHRC session in Geneva.

Speaking to BBC US spokesman went on to say, US concern over present human rights situation in SriLanka.

US spokesman said that SriLanka fail to hold investigations on attacks carried out against journalists, land accusation and religious attacks he said.

Earlier US passed resolution against SriLanka in year 2012 and 2013 and decided to pass another resolution on basis on last two resolutions, spokesman said.
