Election watch dog The PAFFERAL stated that about 80% of the government employees had cast their postal votes with regards to the provincial council elections for the dissolved North Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern Provinces. Executive director of Pafarel Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that the casting of postal votes was carried out relatively peacefully.Postal votes can be cast tomorrow as well.Executive director of Pafarel Rohana Hettiarachchi expressed his views on postal voting in the following manner.Meanwhile the UNP and the JVP had made a complaint to the assistant elections commissioner alleging that several government ministers had conducted an elections discussion at a hotel in the Polonnaruwa – Hingurakgoda region with the participation of government employees.Speaking to our news team group leader of the JVP in Polonnaruwa T. B. Sarath stated that this was a political program conducted under the guise of a development discussion.Our news team inquired regarding this from minister of civil aviation Priyankara Jayarathna who took part in the meeting.The minister stated that this meeting was not a political discussion.When our news team inquired about this incident from the assistant elections commissioner in Polonnaruwa Indika Hathurusinghe, he stated that he had gone to the location in question and instructed the parties in question to stop the discussion.The assistant elections commissioner stated that an inquiry will be conducted regarding the incident as well.
