According to very reliable sources a conflict has developed between SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem and the sections against him within the party regarding the sharing of ministerial portfolios that have been given to the SLMC.Three elected councilors of the PC would definitely resign from the SLMC if the posts are given to those in Hakeem’s faction say these sources. It is also said there is a crisis in the party for deciding to support the government without getting a decision from the Executive Committee of the party. The seniors of the party will take a stern decision regarding the sharing of portfolios given to the party say these sources.A Member of the Executive Committee of the SLMC in a statement to a weekend newspaper had said the decision to support the government is a foolish decision. “We don’t know why the leader took such a decision. If it had been decided to share the post of chief minister why didn’t the first period taken for the party? The same problem existed in the former provincial council. When Pilleyan was appointed we were told only for two and a half years. However, Pilleyan didn’t resign nor was he removed. The same will happen this time too. If the new chief minister doesn’t resign what can we do? This is a blatant betrayal of the Muslim people,” he had said.
