However the SLMC remains indecisive on as to how it will contest the upcoming provincial polls.Against such a backdrop SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem addressing a function in the Polonnaruwa area today noted that he was due-in for a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa today.MP Rauff Hakeem also noted that he had met President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday as well and had submitted several conditions of the SLMC in the event that the party decided to contest alongside the government during the upcoming provincial polls.Speaking further MP Rauff Hakeem stated that he was unconcerned over gaining the chief ministerial portfolio of the East. However our news team obtained the views of a Senior SLMC spokesperson who was advocated the view that congress should contest the East independently. Expressing his views to our news team the Senior Spokesperson representing the SLMC stated that the party leadership was unable to arbitrate on such a decision devoid of consulting the parties Supreme Council. Hence he noted the Supreme Council of the Party which is due to convene tomorrow would draw a final decision on how to contest the upcoming provincial polls. Meanwhile the Tamil National Alliance is of the View that the SLMC should not contest the upcoming local government polls under the UPFA banner. Speaking in this regard TNA Parliamentarian P. Ariyanendra noted that nominations of the party in lieu of the upcoming provincial polls in the East would be handed over to the relevant electoral authorities prior to the 15th of this month.
