CID ‘murders’ Upali Tennakoon, Keith Noyarh

The CID has mistakenly reported to courts that it has investigated the ‘murders’ of journalists Upali Tennakoon and Keith Noyahr.

The two senior journalists had only been attacked some years ago.

A CID unit has misled the courts by saying its investigations into the disappearance of 11 Colombo youths during the previous regime had been delayed due to the two above investigations.

The report in question has been submitted by inspector A. Nishantha de Silva, and certified by the OIC of the unit.

Meanwhile, Tennakoon is due to go back to the US today (08) after attending the court hearing in connection with the attack on him at Imbulgoda in Gampaha on 23 September 2009.

At an identification parade before Gampaha acting magistrate Mahesh Herath, Tennakoon and his wife identified former staff sergeant of Army intelligence Prem Ananda Udalagama as being the attacker.

Tennakoon fled the country after the attack and returned only for this case.
