Two Japanese naval ships ‘Kaga’ and ‘Murasame’ scheduled to visit Colombo

The Indo-Pacific Deployment 2021 (IPD21) unit of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), which is composed of “JS KAGA (DDH-184)”, one of the biggest vessels of the JMSDF and “JS MURASAME (DD-101)”, are scheduled to make a goodwill visit to the Colombo Port.

The helicopter carrier Izumo class destroyer JS Kaga and Murasame-class destroyer JS Murasame will visit from 2nd to 4th October, 2021.

Prior to the arrival in Sri Lanka, the JMSDF vessels have made several goodwill visits to countries in the Pacific region and participated in bilateral and multilateral naval exercises.

This visit will contribute to further strengthening the friendly relationship between Sri Lanka and Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Colombo said.
