The Election Commission will decide, once vested with the required powers, whether to hold the provincial council election individually or collectively, said its chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake.
Recalling that the last PC polls took place in a similar manner, he said no question would arise since all the PCs have now been dissolved.
The commission has no powers with regard to the election until parliament amended the PC act, he said.
Ratnayake said that funds have already been allotted to hold the election, up to Rs. six billion for next year, and also this year.
If there is a shortfall, additional funding can be obtained from the treasury, he said.
