Nominations for the elections to three provincial councils in Sri Lanka will be accepted from today, the Elections Secretariat said.Nominations for the Sabaragamuwa, North-central and Eastern Provincial Council Elections will be accepted at the district offices until the 19th of this month.The Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya has said that the elections will be held either on the 8th or 15th of September. Exact date will be announced after the nomination process is concluded.The Elections Commissioner has stressed the need for political parties to carry out their propaganda campaigns without disturbing the G.C.E. Advanced Level and the Grade Five Scholarship Examinations that will be conducted in August.Conducting of propaganda activities around the examination centers and paper marking centers will be completely banned, the Elections Commissioner has said. Similarly, using loud speakers in vehicles for election campaigns will be illegal.
