Sri Lanka’s nationalist party not to contest the PC election

Sri Lanka’s Sinhala Buddhist political party Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) has decided not to contest the upcoming Provincial Council elections for North Central, Eastern and Sabaragamuwa Provinces.The media spokesman of the JHU Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said that the party would not field candidates for these three elections.At the previous elections also the JHU fielded a candidate only for the Eastern Provincial Council out of these three Provincial Councils.Warnasinghe said that the party decision was informed to the secretary of the ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) formally.
