Sri Lanka reports three more deaths from COVID-19 Thursday raising toll to 222

Sri Lanka confirmed three more deaths on Thursday due to COVID-19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 222, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed following three deaths caused by COVID-19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 222 by now.

01. The deceased is a 53-year-old male from Meethirigala. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID-19 and receiving treatment at Wathupitiwela Base Hospital where he died on 06 January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID-19 and epilepsy.

02. The deceased is a 62-year-old male from Beruwela. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID-19 virus and transferred from Iranavila Base Hospital to National Institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on 07 January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID-19 pneumonia, secondary blood poisoning and kidney infection.

03. The deceased is an 89-year-old male from Colombo-14 area. He has died at home on 06 January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID-19 pneumonia.
