Sri Lanka reports four more deaths from COVID-19 Saturday raising toll to 229

Sri Lanka confirmed four more deaths on Saturday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 229, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed following four deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 229 by now.

01. The deceased is a 74 year old female from Mount Lavinia. She was diagnosed as infected with COVID 19 virus at Colombo South Teaching Hospital and transferred to Homagama Base Hospital where she died on admission on 07 January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as asthma exacerbated due to COVID -19 and pneumonia.

02. The deceased is a 64 year old male from Kattankudy. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID 19 virus at Kalmunai Base Hospital and transferred to Homagama Base Hospital where on 09 January 2021. The cause of death is COVID pneumonia.

03. The deceased is a 76 year old male from Wellampitiya. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID 19 virus at Colombo General Hospital and transferred to Homagama Base Hospital where he died on 09 January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning due to COVID -19.

04. The deceased is a 76 year old male from Opanayaka. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID 19 virus Ratnapura Teaching Hospital and transferred to Homagama Base Hospital where he died on 08 January 2021. The cause of death is COVID pneumonia.
