Case on Palali high security zone taken at the high court today

Three member panel bench comprise with the Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranike decided to investigate on case file against the Palali high security zone in the Jaffna district.High court rejected the petition of objection filed by the government.Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian Mawai Senathiraja and group of farmers in the Jaffna peninsula filed this case in year 2003.Government prosecutor noted 40% of people displaced from the Palali area were resettled in their own lands and also resettlement process was currently underway in the area. Due to this it’s not necessary to hold investigations this regard.Prosecutor from the opposition party noted government fail to release gazette notification on establishing high security zone in the Jaffna peninsula due to this military personals were not permitted to remain in this area.More than 30 thousand people were displaced from the Palali high security zone.60% of farmers and 30% of fishermen have loosed their employment which provides daily bread for these victims. Persecutor appears on behalf of the petitioners noted to issue judgment to resettle these people as soon as possible in their own lands.High court panel accepted the requests of the petitioner and also grant approval to take over the case.Case was postponed till March 11.
