Vavuniya protest to demand freedom for arrested undergrads

The TNA, four other Tamil parties as well as the NSSP and several organizations held a protest in front of Vavuniya marketplace yesterday (Dec. 15) to demand freedom for the four Jaffna University students, who are in police custody.The protestors marched to the location in a procession. MPs ITAK Secretary Mavai Senadhiraja, EPRLF Shivashakthi Anandan, TELO President Selvam Adaikalanathan, TNRF President Gajen Ponampalam,PLOTE Leader Sitharthan and TULF PresidentV. Annadasangaree were among the participants.The demonstrators condemned the military crackdown on the undergraduates and the arrest and interrogation of the students by the TID.They also demanded to know the fate of the missing persons and the return of civilian lands taken over by the military.
