Eric Meyer has been appointed as the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, the US Embassy in Colombo said.
“We are delighted that Eric Meyer was officially sworn in at the @StateDept in Washington, D.C., as the next U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
“We look forward to working under his leadership to deepen the partnership between the United States and Sri Lanka, advancing our shared interests and priorities.”
Meyer is a career Senior Foreign Service Officer with extensive South and Central Asia expertise, including his recent role as Senior Bureau Official for SCA, the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) said.
He succeeds Ambassador Julie J Chung who served in Sri Lanka from 2022 to 2026 and left in January this year.
Deputy Chief of Mission Jayne Howell serves as Chargé d’Affaires, until the arrival of a new US Ambassador.
