Two Sri Lankan ships belonging to fuel and other supplies providers to Iranian ships stranded just off Sri Lanka’s territorial waters have been subjected to secondary sanctions and blacklisted, ‘Lankadeepa’ reported.
Quoting sources, it said the banned ships will no longer be able to provide any services to merchant ships.
The US embassy has asked the Foreign Affairs Ministry for details with regard to the stranded Iranian ships that are reportedly facing a shortage of food.
The Ports Authority has warned local shipping agents verbally to be cautious in extending supplies and services to these ships.
