Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today announced that an order on the request to lift the overseas travel ban imposed on former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in relation to the investigation into the Easter Sunday terror attacks will be delivered on November 25.
The Magistrate also informed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that the court does not have the authority to release the former President on bail or a bond, as he has not been named a suspect in connection with the incident.
Presenting facts before court, the CID stated that it objects to the removal of the travel ban, noting that any overseas travel by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa could have an adverse impact on the ongoing investigation into the Easter Sunday attacks.
