It has been reported that five Sri Lankan individuals fighting for Russia, have been detained in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has relayed this information officially to the Sri Lankan embassy in Ankara, said Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry.
Prompt actions have been taken by the Ministry to inform the relatives of the detained.
In a bid to address the situation, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Ankara has initiated dialogue with the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, seeking to navigate the complexities of the conflict and the situation of the Sri Lankans.
It has been confirmed that 17 Sri Lankan nationals have lost their lives in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
