Velupillai Prabhakaran, leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) wanted to divide Sri Lanka with the force or arms and Wimal Weerawansa is trying to divide the country by talking trash, Minister of Rural Economics P. Harrison said at a press briefing yesterday (21).
He said, “We saw Wimal, Dinesh and some other supporters of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa talking trash at Viharamahadevi Park. The main objective of the rally was to highlight the word Hybrid. Wimal should look into Shashi Weerawansa’s National Identity Card (NIC) before talking trash because that is where they learnt the word hybrid. We have formed a National Government between the Sri Lankan Freedom Party (SLFP) and the United National Party (UNP). What is the logic behind the newly formed alliance of Wimal, Gammanpila and Dinesh?”
Rajapaksa was dragged back into politics when he settled in Madamulana and now he shamelessly proclaims that during his tenure as President there was media freedom and bemoans what he believes is the lack of media freedoms today.
Sirasa was attacked when Rajapaksa was President. Siyatha was attacked, Prageeth Ekneligoda was kidnapped and Lasantha Wickramathunga was murdered, he added.
People are waiting until the wrongdoers are punished; therefore, the government should probe Thajudeen’s, Ekneligoda’s and Lasantha’s murders effectively”.
