Upcountry political parties are to invite India’s prime minister Narendra Modi to Sri Lanka to mark 200 years of history of estate Tamils.
The Ceylon Worlers’ Congress and the Tamil Progressive Alliance plan to hold the celebration in Nuwara Eliya next month, according to anidda.lk.
In the event Modi cannot attend, the parties are considering inviting another top figure in the Bharatiya Janatha Party.
