The passenger visa counters for foreigners arriving in Sri Lanka at the Bandaranaike International Airport were less crowded with no queues lined up yesterday (27), after the online visa issuance system was re-implemented from Thursday (26) midnight.
The new Government of Sri Lanka took swift action to comply with the Supreme Court’s order in consultation with the Attorney General and has revised the process to the old visa issuance system after the Supreme Court suspended a controversial new visa scheme operated by VFS Global recently.
Accordingly, all foreigners arriving in Sri Lanka are able to apply for visas under the previous online visa issuance system which is fast and efficient as it used to be before the new visa process was introduced by the previous regime which was operated by VFS Global.
Many foreigners arriving in Sri Lanka faced difficulties when the visa facility was managed by VFS Global where they encountered various issues causing huge crowds lining up in long queues in order to obtain their visas to enter the country.
