The 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is set to commence today (07) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The session is scheduled to continue until October 7.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk will deliver the opening remarks at the session today.
A United Nations human rights report on Sri Lanka is also scheduled to be presented during the session this week.
According to reports, this year’s session will pay particular attention to actions against women and girls in Afghanistan, as well as the ongoing human rights crises in Sudan, Venezuela, and the Middle East.
The Council is expected to consider reports on these issues and adopt relevant resolutions.
