The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) will hold a job fair in Jaffna today (October 10), offering young people opportunities to explore and apply for foreign employment.
The programme will be held at the Kanagaratnam Central College campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as part of the Bureau’s provincial-level employment promotion initiative.
Participants will be able to apply for overseas job opportunities and register with the Bureau’s job bank. Several foreign employment agencies licensed by the SLBFE will also participate, providing information on available vacancies and conducting direct recruitment.
The programme will focus on employment opportunities in Japan, Israel and South Korea, including opportunities available under Memoranda of Understanding signed with the Sri Lankan Government.
A special awareness session on the proper procedures for finding employment in Japan will also be conducted.
Participants will also have the opportunity to obtain information about vocational training courses linked to occupations in demand in foreign labour markets and register for relevant training programmes conducted by the Bureau.
The job fair has been jointly organised by the SLBFE’s Northern Provincial Office and its Marketing Division. The Bureau plans to conduct similar programmes in other provinces.
